Techfugees Adelaide
SPONSORSHIP PROPOSAL
A unique opportunity to co-design solutions to help refugees settle in Australia
TECHFUGEES
The Tech Community's response to a global issue
Techfugees was founded in 2015 by Mike Butcher of TechCrunch UK with the goal of helping successful settlement of refugees into their new European countries. The idea was expanded with events held in London, Paris, Warsaw, Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane and now Adelaide.
Techfugees was brought to Australia by Annie Parker of Muru-D/Lighthouse Sydney, Anne-Marie Elias from Chief Disruptor and Nicole Williamson from LanzaTech. For further information about the international movement, please see www.techfugees.com
TECHFUGEES Australia
Australia has already hosted 4 Techfugees Hackathons. Now it's Adelaide's turn!!
26th - 28th May 2017
The Techfugees Adelaide Hackathon will bring together developers, designers, entrepreneurs, refugee organisations and community members together to develop creative tech solutions to help refugee families settle into the Australian community.
Past events
The Sydney Techfugees event attracted approximately 20 partners and sponsors including Blue Chilli, Pollenizer and Uber. Melbourne's partners and sponsors included the Telstra Foundation, LaunchVic ($5,000 cash prize), LawPath ($3,000 cash runner up prize and 3 months membership for all attendees) and Dropbox (cloud storage, prize swag). Each of these events attracted a physical crowd of over 200 people over the weekend, with a broader audience on social media.

What are we looking for?
To ensure maximum participation from the Refugee and Tech communities, we are not applying a registration fee. We do not receive any funding from Techfugees International. Subsequently to host a successful event and maximise the outcomes for refugees, we are seeking further support from the wider business community.
